5 Ways to Make This Winter Unforgettable with Your Little One

5 Ways to Make This Winter Unforgettable with Your Little One

Oh dear, autumn and winter might not sound very appealing. It’s cold, wet, and seems endlessly dark. Your energy levels hit rock bottom, while your little one seems to reach new peaks—especially at night, when they’re wide awake and going through a sleep regression phase. Great! But pull yourself together, because here are 5 ways to make this winter unforgettable with your mini! Cozy Naps Together Yes, your energy is at -10, which is the perfect excuse to binge Netflix on your day off or take a power nap when your little dragon is also catching their midday snooze. When you both wake up, you’ll be refreshed and ready to enjoy some fun activities. The Christmas Show at Your Local Garden Center Say what?! It might not be the first thing you think of to do with a little one, but this is how I survived the last weeks of my second pregnancy with a toddler. Most garden centers start the festive magic in October — their usually dull setups transform into wonderlands filled with twinkling lights, cheerful music, magical fairies, whimsical animals, and lots of cozy vibes. So park your toddler in the cart and stroll around at your own pace. The Christmas village will quickly become your mini’s favorite spot. Bonus: grab a treat at the café — happy you, happy mini! Dancing in the Rain We adults think six times before stepping out in the rain, but little ones still see the magic in a rainy day. Let your mini put on their rain boots and a waterproof suit, and go splash in puddles together. The look on your baby’s face will be pure gold. Winter Walks Nothing beats fresh air for your little one. So bundle your baby in a carrier, slip on comfy boots, and head outside for a walk. It might sound boring, but it’s truly refreshing and a huge energy boost for you. Afterwards, you can cozy up on the couch with a warm hot chocolate. Cookie Time! Baking cookies together might sound chaotic — flour and batter flying everywhere, your mini zooming around the kitchen like a whirlwind. Luckily, pre-made dough is available at the supermarket, perfect for your little one’s short attention span. Together, you can shape, decorate, and enjoy delicious cookies in no time.

So, of course, you want to make this space as cozy and beautiful as possible!Maybe you’ve already started gathering inspiration, picked out a color palette, or even bought the first pieces of furniture. Once you have the basics in place, it’s time for the fun part: decorating with gorgeous accessories. From the softest bedding to a cuddly stuffed toy waiting patiently for baby’s arrival. From a cute changing pad cover to handy storage baskets. The Jollein collection is full of beautiful pieces you can endlessly mix and match. That way, you can create a unique look that perfectly suits your nursery. Stylist Elina is here to help you with some clever and creative styling tips! “What I love about the new Jollein collection is how calm and timeless the color palette is,” says Elina. “Shades like Olive Green, Wild Rose, and the neutral tones Nougat and Oatmeal work beautifully in any nursery. And because these colors come back in lots of different products throughout the collection, mixing and matching becomes super easy!” “You can really play around with this in the crib, since you're working in layers there. For example, pair the Twig fitted sheet with the gorgeous Grain Knit blanket in Oatmeal. The My Tiny Miracle top sheet is a subtle and sweet addition to this set—when you make the bed, you can fold the edge over the blanket to reveal the lovely message. Complete the crib styling with a beautiful canopy. My personal favorite colors for that are Olive Green and Nougat—they add a soft and stylish color accent to the space.”   Matching or Mixing? You Decide! “If you want to create a sense of calm in your nursery, it helps to make ‘links’ between different products. If you choose a knitted blanket, for example, you can find a matching changing pad cover and storage baskets in the same color at Jollein.” “Prefer a bit more boldness in the room? Go for a playful mix of colors or choose a standout print like Retro Flowers or Adventurous Animals. The sweet Dreamy Mouse print is also absolutely adorable—for baby boys and girls alike! And with the matching accessories, like the fun suitcase set, you can bring the print to life throughout the entire room.” Enjoy Every Step of Creating Your Dream Nursery Would you like even more inspiration and guidance? 5x must do’s bij het verzorgen van je bébé

5x must do’s bij het verzorgen van je bébé

Oeh spannend! 5. Shop alle caring moments musthaves in onze webshop.
3x What It Was Like to Bathe My Little One for the First Time

3x What It Was Like to Bathe My Little One for the First Time

Some parents love it, others find it incredibly nerve-wracking: giving your baby their very first bath. After all the instructions from the maternity nurse, you just go for it and hope everything goes well — and most of all, that your little one doesn’t cry. We asked three moms to share their first bath stories. Do these sound familiar to you? Marlien (35), mom to Charlie (2) and Jens (1)“The first few days you were here, I couldn’t stop sniffing you — your hair, your neck, your tummy, your mouth, everything smelled like you. That’s why I was nervous to bathe you for the first time — would you still smell as lovely afterward? I didn’t want that soapy scent; I wanted your own unique smell. That first magical bath moment... you loved it. No soap, just a soft washcloth. You floated in the warm water, yawned a lot, and were completely relaxed. I dried you off with a large muslin cloth, dressed you in a clean outfit, and you still smelled just like you — perfect!” Liset (39), mom to Jill (7) and Ruby (2)“Ruby spent a month in the NICU (Neonatal Intensive Care Unit) in Groningen. When I was finally allowed to bathe her, she still had a central line, a regular IV, a feeding tube, and was hooked up to a heart monitor. Only the monitor could be briefly disconnected — the rest came with her into the bath. She was still so fragile and tiny, weighing less than 2 kilos and bearing a large scar on her belly. Despite everything, she really enjoyed her first bath. I placed a muslin cloth over her body — it’s said to give a sense of security. After about ten minutes, I dried her off and dressed her in a pre-warmed onesie. By then, I’d become pretty skilled at reconnecting the heart monitor. Then I fed her through the tube, and she fell peacefully asleep.” Anna (31), mom to Otis (2) and Seff (3 months)“So much came at me when Otis was born. He was so unique and smelled so good. I didn’t feel the need for a bath anytime soon. But of course, it was nice to practice with the maternity nurse. I remember being so nervous about changing him — those tiny toes and fingers! So the idea of putting him in the bath felt overwhelming. But when I saw how much he enjoyed the warm water, I relaxed too. Then came the stress again when I had to dress him and he was a little less happy, haha
6 Unsolicited Summer Tips From Your (Mother-in-Law) That Actually Turn Out To Be Pretty Useful…!

6 Unsolicited Summer Tips From Your (Mother-in-Law) That Actually Turn Out To Be Pretty Useful…!

You know how it goes… You just want to have a little rant or ask how to survive your first vacation with your little one, and suddenly you get an entire essay of unsolicited advice and tips. Your own mother usually tops your mother-in-law in that department. But once you’re actually on holiday, you realise that some of those tips turn out to be surprisingly useful. We’ve listed six of them for you: 1. Washcloths to goDid you know it’s super handy to wet some muslin washcloths, pop them in a sandwich bag in your cooler or a container with a mini ice pack, and use them to wipe sticky faces, grubby hands, or cool down your little one on a hot day? Super sustainable and much nicer than most wet wipes, which dry out in the heat and are often unsuitable for your baby’s sensitive face. 2. Ice, ice, baby!Did you know that babies from 6 months old can enjoy a refreshing ice pop? Just purée the fruit you’d normally use for a fruit snack, add a splash of water, and freeze it in ready-made ice lolly moulds. Tip: You can also take it with you in a leak-proof container — it melts into a slushy consistency, perfect for cooling down! 3. Splash time funNothing beats cooling off in warm weather — whether at home or on holiday. It’s super handy to use your regular baby bath, fill it with a shallow layer of water, and let your little one splash around. Fun guaranteed and your baby cools down nicely. No baby bath available on holiday? A large bucket or washing-up tub works just as well — that does the trick! 4. (P)oops!Did you know swim diapers only contain solid waste? A pee will go straight through. Which explains why the paddling pool is always warmer than the big pool… So make sure to pop on a regular diaper after swimming — otherwise, everything gets soaked in no time. 5. Keep it hot!Timing is everything! You’ve packed the car, you’re off to the South of France with your toddler and baby, and you hit a traffic jam. You know it’s going to take a while — great. But then you glance at the clock and realise your baby will soon be crying for a bottle. That’s tricky on the road. Did you know it’s super handy to always have a thermos with hot water with you? Perfect for preparing formula or keeping breast milk warm. That way, even stuck in traffic, feeding your baby isn’t a problem. 6. Breathe in, breathe outThere are so many cute summer outfits for little ones, but as your mum has probably told you countless times: go for airy fabrics. Muslin, linen, and cotton absorb moisture and are breathable — ideal for hot weather. On really warm days, a romper is all they need. Have you ever received unsolicited summer tips from your (mother-in-law) that actually turned out to be helpful?
