Interview Inez (Webshop Manager)

Tell us a bit more about yourself?
I’m Inez, 32 years old, Jollein’s ‘webshop queen,’ mom to Charlie (2) and number two is on the way (due Nov ’24). I grew up in a small village in Groningen and recently moved to Zuidlaren, Drenthe. For the past year, I’ve been the Webshop Manager at Jollein. This means I’m responsible for all B2B and B2C webshops. It’s a great place to express my creativity! To stay fit, I also train once a week as an instructor at Mom in Balance, where I teach fitness classes for pregnant women, new moms, and active mothers.

How long have you been working at Jollein?
Since May 2023, so just over a year now.

How would you describe Jollein?
I would describe Jollein as a brand fully committed to helping parents experience all those first moments with their baby, with safe, stylish, practical, and high-quality products. I see the passion and dedication in every product, which always makes me proud to be part of it. Within our office walls, we inspire each other and enjoy a very cozy atmosphere.

What does a typical workday look like for a webshop manager at Jollein?
Every day and week is actually quite different. One week I launch a new campaign, and the next we’re busy preparing the new collection. Never a dull moment!
I start my day with a cup of coffee (what else?) and catch up with my lovely colleagues. Then it’s time to get to work: I check all the numbers to see if we’re ahead or behind and if there’s anything notable. Of course, I check my emails, then I have a weekly marketing campaign meeting where we discuss current campaigns and brainstorm new ones. Lunch time! On Thursdays we always order a nice sandwich, the rest of the week it’s usually just a peanut butter sandwich (the whole marketing team has a jar of peanut butter on their desk, lol). We often take a little walk after lunch. In the afternoon, I work on A/B tests or webshop optimizations, like the current choice tool for sleeping bags. Around 4:30 pm, our team always discusses what’s for dinner that evening — great for inspiration — and we also enthusiastically participate in ‘Double Your Salary’ on Qmusic. Throughout the day, I often have meetings with developers about ongoing projects.

How do you ensure the webshop is always up-to-date and user-friendly for customers?
By continuously gathering data that provides valuable insights. But not just that — I often brainstorm with the webshop developers about how to optimize the site. Our webshop is built on a system that is constantly being updated, so I get to experiment with new tools or features to see what works best for our customers. I also conduct user research from time to time and look at what other webshops are doing for inspiration. Colleagues and even customers regularly give feedback and great suggestions.

Can you tell us about a time you overcame a big challenge in your role? How did you do it?
My biggest challenge so far at Jollein was launching the new B2B webshop. So much goes into it and so much depends on it. It affects almost every department, but especially how our customers place orders. It involved a lot of coordination with colleagues and external parties. You work with deadlines, and sometimes it’s stressful until the last minute whether everything will work as planned. Sometimes not everything works perfectly right away, which can be hard for my perfectionist brain, but it’s very rewarding that we keep optimizing to make the shop even more user-friendly.

What do you enjoy most about working at Jollein?
Working with a team of fun, motivated, creative colleagues. That is very inspiring and contagious for me. I always love coming up with campaigns and ideas with them and then seeing them come to life. From campaigns planned months in advance to spontaneous ideas that have to go live in two days. Everyone always thinks in possibilities, and we often get the freedom and opportunity to try new things, which makes it very enjoyable.

What is your ultimate relaxation moment of the day?
On a workday, that’s the afternoon walk. Closing the laptop, soaking up some vitamin D, and chatting with colleagues — not about work. It’s a nice break and gives me new energy for the rest of the day.

I heard you always have Tasty Thursday on Thursdays, what’s your favorite sandwich?
My favorite day of the week! We often start the day around 9:30 am by asking “What shall we order for lunch?” My favorite sandwich is usually number one the carpaccio sandwich with truffle mayo, but since I’m pregnant I can’t have that right now. So, I go for the brie sandwich with chutney and walnuts — yum.

  • Motherhood without filters: why mums need support, not perfection

Motherhood without filters: why mums need support, not perfection

Motherhood is often shown as something natural, as if everything just falls into place. But every mother knows reality is very different. It is beautiful, intense, exhausting, loving and sometimes completely overwhelming all at once. That is why what mothers need most is each other. The image of the perfect mother On social media we often see calm mothers, peacefully sleeping babies and perfectly styled homes. But these images never show the full reality. The sleepless nights, the doubts and the moments of feeling completely overwhelmed are rarely visible. This is why many mothers feel alone, even when they are not. Real life is not perfect and that is okay Every mother does things differently. Every baby is different. There is no single right way to do motherhood. There is only what works for your family. Motherhood is not a manual. It is something you learn as you go. Why comparison feels so heavy Comparing yourself to others often feels harmless, but it can be emotionally draining. We tend to think others are doing better, while we only see a small highlight of their lives. What mothers really need Understanding, not judgment. Simple words like “me too” or “you are doing your best” can mean everything. Being kind to yourself There is no perfect way to be a mother. Good enough truly is enough. Together instead of alone Motherhood is not a competition. It is a community. A place where we support each other, share honestly and feel understood. In the end, all mothers want the same thing: to love their child and do their best in their own way.

The cutest Jollein Toys for babies from 0 to 1 year

A baby’s first year is a time full of growth and wonder. Every day, your little one learns something new: reaching, rolling, listening, looking, and feeling. The right toys can make this journey of discovery safe, fun, and stimulating. At Jollein, you’ll find toys perfectly suited to this special stage. The collection combines soft materials, calming colors, and clever designs that support your baby’s development. Playtime becomes not only enjoyable but also a meaningful moment of bonding and exploration. Discover the cutest gifts for your little one or the perfect present for a newborn! Safety and Materials Jollein toys are designed with little hands in mind. Every item is made from safe, high-quality materials that feel pleasant to touch. The soft colors and natural fabrics fit perfectly into any nursery and bring a sense of calm to daily play and learning moments. What makes these toys even more special is that they grow with your baby. From the first weeks when your little one mostly observes and listens, to the stage of grabbing, rolling, and exploring – Jollein offers something appropriate for every phase. Pacifier cloths Pacifier cloths are often a baby’s very first favorite companions. They provide comfort, familiarity, and security and can be taken everywhere: in the crib, on the couch, or on walks in the stroller. Jollein comfort blankets are made from soft materials like teddy fabric and velour, perfect for snuggling and holding close. Many designs also include small tags, buttons, or rattles that stimulate the senses and help develop fine motor skills. How cute is the Little Star Pacifier cloth? Rattles Around three months, babies discover that they can grasp and move objects. A rattle is the perfect toy at this stage: lightweight, easy to hold, and with a gentle sound that sparks curiosity. Recently, wrist and foot rattles have also become available. These little rattles attach to your baby’s arms or legs, so every movement creates a soft sound. This makes everyday motions even more fun and engaging while your baby spends hours exploring touch and sound. They help develop fine motor skills, hearing, and hand-eye coordination in a playful way, keeping your little one active and entertained. Baby Gyms and Activity Cubes A baby gym is an essential for the first months. Your baby lies underneath, looks up, and reaches for the soft hanging toys. This naturally stimulates motor skills and coordination. Jollein offers various baby gym toys that can be attached to the gym – from cute animals to soft rattles. Which one is your favorite? Later in the first year, an activity cube is a wonderful next step: a block full of textures, shapes, and sounds that keeps your baby engaged and learning. The Animal Friends Activity Cube is a perfect example – educational, safe, and fun for the second half of the first year. Baby Mobiles A baby mobile brings calm and fascination to the nursery. The moving figures capture attention and stimulate vision, while the gentle rotation has a soothing effect. Hang it above the crib or playpen for a quiet moment in between activities. Jollein baby mobiles are real eye-catchers in the nursery and look adorable under a mosquito net. Teething Rings Around four to six months, the first teeth often start to appear. This can be uncomfortable for your baby, but a teething ring can help relieve the discomfort. Jollein teething rings are made from safe materials such as soft silicone or natural rubber, allowing your little one to chew and explore safely. They support both teething and the development of hand-eye coordination and fine motor skills. Our Favorites for Babies from 0 to 12 Months Baby Gym – Natural Wood: stimulates movement and curiosity from the very first weeks. Choose from the cutest baby gym toys!
