With our backpacks, your mini won’t want to wait to show off their new bag, and our silicone tableware turns lunch into a real treat! Have you already picked up your back-to-school items? Let’s list them out for you! Sleeping bags for dreamy naps Does your little one take naps at daycare? Make sure to get a new sleeping bag! At Jollein, we now have round sleeping bags in all sizes. These comfy sleeping bags give your mini plenty of room to move! Choose a sleeping bag with detachable sleeves so your little one stays perfectly warm at daycare. Sweet dreams guaranteed! Trendy backpacks At Jollein, we have a great selection of backpacks that are both practical and on-trend. Our newest collection adds three amazing bags to the range. Will you go for the puffed backpack, the Check Bouclé, the Teddy Lovely, or the cool colourblock backpack? These practical backpacks feature multiple compartments and adjustable straps, keeping things organised and growing along with your little one! Lunch fun: silicone tableware Lunching together at daycare calls for great supplies. Our silicone tableware makes every lunch break a little celebration. With pastel-coloured spoons, straws and cups in a child-friendly design, eating at daycare becomes a fun experience. The silicone is durable and easy to clean, so no worries about spills or mess. Plus, the cutlery is gentle on your little one’s teeth. Will you mix and match the colours or go for a matching set? Bibs for clean outfits Send your little one to daycare with a handy bib, so they’ll come home with clean clothes! Will you pick a waterproof bib, a silicone bib, or a terry cloth one? Interview Susan (Export Manager)

Interview Susan (Export Manager)

Tell us a bit about yourself?I’m Susan, 37 years old, mom of two kids (teenagers) Aaron (14) and Nora (12), and I live in Zuidlaren. In my free time, I enjoy spending time with friends. I’m also often found on the soccer field as a volunteer and soccer mom since both my children play soccer. On top of that, I still play soccer myself. How long have you been working at Jollein?I have been working at Jollein as an export manager for a year now. Initially, I only handled customers abroad, but for a few months now, I’ve also been visiting Dutch stores in several regions. It’s so nice to see how our items are lovingly presented in physical stores. How would you describe Jollein? It’s a wonderful company; we have such beautiful collections. Besides that, we have a great work atmosphere and fun colleagues. It’s really a family business from the past, and you can feel that in the workplace vibe. It’s very approachable and all colleagues collaborate well. We’re all involved in the successes and challenges the company goes through. I would also say that we develop really high-quality collections that are always completely on-trend. I’m super proud of that! What’s the best thing you’ve experienced at Jollein? There are plenty of great things, but I really enjoy filming the collection videos. We do this every year. A videographer comes to the office and we record the video in the showroom. The video explains all the new products we are going to launch in the upcoming collection. I do this together with a sales colleague, and what you don’t see in the video is actually the best part — especially in the beginning, we have lots of bloopers. We mess up, forget the name of a product, or completely blank out. Because we record the video in English, switching languages can be tricky sometimes. Maybe it would be fun to release a blooper edition so everyone can enjoy it! Want to see the collection video? Check the image bank. What do you find most special about the contact with your customers? For me, it’s very interesting to see the different cultures. I always find it funny how tastes and styles can vary so much around the world. It’s also great to speak with everyone via Teams and show the collections. My customers really share my passion. I proudly tell them about our beautiful items and explain how it works if you want to become a Jollein dealer. We are constantly working to make this process even easier. That’s a nice challenge. I’m also always busy sorting out all the paperwork to make it possible to supply all the countries that sign up as Jollein customers. How many hours per week do you spend in the car?Until recently, I worked fully from the office. This was because I was mainly export manager for all customers outside the Benelux and France. For them, I give presentations in the showroom via Zoom meetings to show our collection and answer all questions. It’s funny how, due to the time difference, I sometimes have calls at the strangest hours to provide our customers worldwide with all the info. Recently, I’ve also taken on several regions in the Netherlands. I really like that because it gives me face-to-face contact with my customers. I spend about 8 to 10 hours per week driving, usually one day a week. Of course, I also attend foreign trade fairs for which I happily travel many kilometers. That way, I can really connect with customers! What do you like to listen to on the road? Radio, music, or podcasts? To make the time on the road fun, I prefer listening to my own Spotify playlist. Every Sunday evening I update this list with the newest releases. And with two teenagers in the house, I’m always totally up-to-date on music, which is ideal! My favorite music is TOP 40 and dance; Kygo, David Guetta, and Tiësto are my favorite DJs, so I sing along a lot in the car. What is your favorite item from the new collection?I really love the Dreamy Mouse collection. You can clearly see so much love and attention went into it. Every time I look at it, I notice new details in the design. Besides the print, the items in the collection are, as I’m used to from Jollein, very soft and cuddly. That’s exactly what you want for your baby, right? I also really like the Puffed Bag. Of course, I immediately got one as soon as it rolled off the container and was available for us to order. I always get a lot of questions about it. It has all the features of a real diaper bag with plenty of pockets and all the accessories a new mom needs, but it looks like a bag you can also just take along when going out with friends or to the city. Even my daughter likes to borrow it.
Interview Inez (Webshop Manager)

Interview Inez (Webshop Manager)

Tell us a bit more about yourself?I’m Inez, 32 years old, Jollein’s ‘webshop queen,’ mom to Charlie (2) and number two is on the way (due Nov ’24). I grew up in a small village in Groningen and recently moved to Zuidlaren, Drenthe. For the past year, I’ve been the Webshop Manager at Jollein. This means I’m responsible for all B2B and B2C webshops. It’s a great place to express my creativity! To stay fit, I also train once a week as an instructor at Mom in Balance, where I teach fitness classes for pregnant women, new moms, and active mothers. How long have you been working at Jollein?Since May 2023, so just over a year now. How would you describe Jollein?I would describe Jollein as a brand fully committed to helping parents experience all those first moments with their baby, with safe, stylish, practical, and high-quality products. I see the passion and dedication in every product, which always makes me proud to be part of it. Within our office walls, we inspire each other and enjoy a very cozy atmosphere. What does a typical workday look like for a webshop manager at Jollein?Every day and week is actually quite different. One week I launch a new campaign, and the next we’re busy preparing the new collection. Never a dull moment!I start my day with a cup of coffee (what else?) and catch up with my lovely colleagues. Then it’s time to get to work: I check all the numbers to see if we’re ahead or behind and if there’s anything notable. Of course, I check my emails, then I have a weekly marketing campaign meeting where we discuss current campaigns and brainstorm new ones. Lunch time! On Thursdays we always order a nice sandwich, the rest of the week it’s usually just a peanut butter sandwich (the whole marketing team has a jar of peanut butter on their desk, lol). We often take a little walk after lunch. In the afternoon, I work on A/B tests or webshop optimizations, like the current choice tool for sleeping bags. Around 4:30 pm, our team always discusses what’s for dinner that evening — great for inspiration — and we also enthusiastically participate in ‘Double Your Salary’ on Qmusic. Throughout the day, I often have meetings with developers about ongoing projects. How do you ensure the webshop is always up-to-date and user-friendly for customers?By continuously gathering data that provides valuable insights. But not just that — I often brainstorm with the webshop developers about how to optimize the site. Our webshop is built on a system that is constantly being updated, so I get to experiment with new tools or features to see what works best for our customers. I also conduct user research from time to time and look at what other webshops are doing for inspiration. Colleagues and even customers regularly give feedback and great suggestions. Can you tell us about a time you overcame a big challenge in your role? How did you do it?My biggest challenge so far at Jollein was launching the new B2B webshop. So much goes into it and so much depends on it. It affects almost every department, but especially how our customers place orders. It involved a lot of coordination with colleagues and external parties. You work with deadlines, and sometimes it’s stressful until the last minute whether everything will work as planned. Sometimes not everything works perfectly right away, which can be hard for my perfectionist brain, but it’s very rewarding that we keep optimizing to make the shop even more user-friendly. What do you enjoy most about working at Jollein?Working with a team of fun, motivated, creative colleagues. That is very inspiring and contagious for me. I always love coming up with campaigns and ideas with them and then seeing them come to life. From campaigns planned months in advance to spontaneous ideas that have to go live in two days. Everyone always thinks in possibilities, and we often get the freedom and opportunity to try new things, which makes it very enjoyable. What is your ultimate relaxation moment of the day?On a workday, that’s the afternoon walk. Closing the laptop, soaking up some vitamin D, and chatting with colleagues — not about work. It’s a nice break and gives me new energy for the rest of the day. I heard you always have Tasty Thursday on Thursdays, what’s your favorite sandwich? My favorite day of the week! We often start the day around 9:30 am by asking “What shall we order for lunch?” My favorite sandwich is usually number one the carpaccio sandwich with truffle mayo, but since I’m pregnant I can’t have that right now. So, I go for the brie sandwich with chutney and walnuts — yum. Webshop tips from Inez: Easily save your favorite products for later by creating a wishlist — just click the heart icon on any product. Interview Tjarda (Visual Merchandiser & Account manager)

Interview Tjarda (Visual Merchandiser & Account manager)

Everything You Need to Know About the Playpen: Mattresses, Playmats, and Storage Options

Everything You Need to Know About the Playpen: Mattresses, Playmats, and Storage Options

A playpen is almost a must-have for every new parent. It offers a safe and comfy spot for your baby to rest or play, while you have your hands free for other tasks. But when setting up your baby’s playpen, you’ll quickly find there are lots of choices to make. What do you actually need? In this blog, we’ll guide you through all the essentials—from playpen mattresses and playmats to fitted sheets, storage bags, and bumpers. What Is a Playpen For? A playpen is a safe play and nap area for your little one. It’s perfect for tummy time, which helps develop core strength and motor skills, and it gives your baby a clean, pet-free space to explore. You can choose from round, rectangular, or square playpens and accessorize with soft essentials like a playpen mattress or a playmat (or both!). Not sure what’s right for you? Let’s break it down. Playpen Mattress vs. Playmat: What’s the Difference? There’s no right or wrong—just what suits your baby best. A Playpen Mattress (like our Jollein ones) adds softness and support. Ideal for short naps and for keeping your baby safe from bumps. A Playmat—like the Bouclé, Basic Knit, or Pure Knit Playpen Mats—is designed for active play and tummy time. Slightly firmer, it supports movement like rolling over and pushing up. Pro tip: You can also layer them! Place a Playpen Mattress underneath and a Playmat on top for extra comfort and an inviting play space. Fitted Sheets for Playpen Mattresses Keep your mattress clean and cozy with our Jersey Fitted Sheets. Made from 100% jersey cotton, they’re super soft, breathable, and skin-friendly. The elastic edges ensure a snug fit, and they’re machine washable and colorfast—perfect for everyday use. A must-have for keeping your playpen mattress fresh and hygienic. Our Favorite Playmats Turn your playpen into a stylish eye-catcher with one of our signature Jollein Playmats: Bouclé Playmat – Super soft and fluffy with a modern teddy texture. Pure Knit Playmat – A luxe, knitted texture that fits perfectly in any calm, neutral interior. Basic Knit Playmat – Simple, soft, and timeless—great for any space. Available in round, rectangular, and square designs, and in trendy Jollein tones like Naturel, Ash Green, Storm Grey, or Rosewood. Smart Storage: Playpen Storage Bags Keep your essentials close at hand with a Playpen Storage Bag. These handy bags attach to the side of the playpen and are perfect for storing diapers, wipes, pacifiers, toys, and more. Check out our favorites: Bouclé Playpen Storage Bag – Soft, cuddly and stylish. Corduroy Storage Bag – A trendy touch with ribbed fabric. Soft Waves Storage Bag – Adds texture and a modern twist. They tie easily to the side with ribbons or loops and keep your living space neat and organized. Extra Comfort: Playpen Bumpers Make your baby’s space even safer and more snug with a Playpen Bumper. These soft protective edges shield your baby from the hard wooden bars of the playpen. They add both comfort and style, plus they come in colors that match your playmat or storage bag. Try a Bouclé Playpen Bumper for that cozy teddy vibe or choose a quilted floral print for a softer, classic look. Style Your Playpen Your Way Styling your playpen is so much fun! Mix and match your favorite colors and textures to suit your home. With a soft Playpen Mattress, a cozy Playmat, a fresh Fitted Sheet, a clever Storage Bag, and a comfy Bumper, your little one will have the perfect space to rest and play. 🛒 Explore all playpen must-haves at Jollein.com and create your dream setup today!
